NATCHITOCHES, La. -- An investigation of a tip that contraband was being smuggled into the LaSalle Correctional Facility in Natchitoches has led to the recent arrests of five people, Sheriff Stuart Wright said Monday in a news release.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office's Drug Enforcement Unit investigation revealed an alleged conspiracy involving the suspects attempting to introduce the contraband via legal documents treated with a chemical compound containing ketamine.
Arrested are the following:
- Haeli Epperson, 34, of Natchitoches, possession of methamphetamine, introduction of contraband into a penal institution and forgery.
- Timothy Meshell, 41, of Marthaville, two counts criminal conspiracy, one count of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and one count possession with intent to distribute ketamine.
- Kristopher Burks, 25, of Natchitoches, two counts of criminal conspiracy, one count of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and one count possession with intent to distribute ketamine.
- Charlaigha Morris, 25, of Natchez, criminal conspiracy, introduction of contraband into a penal institution and accessory to possession with intent to distribute ketamine.
- Donovan Solitaire, 25, of Natchitoches, criminal conspiracy, introduction of contraband into a penal institution and distribution of ketamine.
The investigation remains ongoing.
NPSO Drug Enforcement Unit reminds the public anyone involved in assisting or facilitating the introduction of contraband into correctional facilities will be subject to criminal investigation.
