BERMUDA, La. — Authorities responded to a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 494 near Bermuda on Saturday that injured a man, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. The crash was reported at 1:40 p.m. and involved an 80-year-old Natchitoches man driving a 2018 Honda Accord. Deputies said the driver was traveling southbound near Shell Beach when he entered a curve, veered off the left side of the roadway, and went down an embankment into Cane River. Before the vehicle became fully submerged, nearby fishermen rescued the driver and brought him to Shell Beach Boat Launch, where he received medical aid. The driver was transported by EMS to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Louisiana State Police investigated the crash.
