Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark says a man is fortunate to have not been injured after he began choking while driving, then ran off a highway and hit a tree. The accident occurred at about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon on Highway 63 West near County Road 113 in the Curtis Community. Sergeant Clark said 44-year-old Wadell Barlow, of Jasper, was driving a 2019 Toyota Sonata eastbound when the incident occurred. Clark said the car went across the westbound lanes before going off the roadway. Allegiance EMS along with Beech Grove Firefighters & First Responders were at the scene.
