The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate late Friday afternoon.
Brandon Binning,36, of Mansfield hung himself in a jail cell in the DeSoto Parish Detention Center.
Correctional officers were not aware of any threats of suicide, Chief Deputy Ray Sharrow said.
Binning was in a cell by himself but in a pod with other inmates. He was held on a protective order related to domestic abuse charges, Sheriff Jayson Richardson said.
Sharrow expects to have more details from the investigation Tuesday.
