DPS: Tyler woman killed in wreck involving intoxicated driver

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - One person has died following a wreck on FM 2015 Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Adam Albritton confirmed the fatal wreck. He said that at 7:35 a.m., troopers responded to FM 2015, north of County Road 345 in the Winona area. The preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Jeremiah Munoz, 31, of Tyler, was headed northbound on FM 2015.

A second vehicle, driven by Brandi Carter, 35, of Tyler, was headed southbound on FM 2015. Albritton said that Munoz’s vehicle drove into oncoming traffic, hitting Carter’s vehicle head-on. Carter died at the scene.

Jeremiah Munoz was determined to be intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was booked into the Smith County Jail on a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter, DPS stated. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance greater than 4g, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

The investigation is ongoing.
