TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Tyler man has been arrested after being accused of leading police on a vehicle chase and striking a power pole while intoxicated.
Fernando Simon, 22, is charged with driving while intoxicated, evading arrest with a vehicle, and possessing a firearm as a felon.
The pursuit began on New Copeland Road near Loop 323 after a DPS trooper spotted the vehicle following a report of a reckless driver, according to Texas DPS Sgt. Adam Albritton.
During the chase, Simon struck a pole near Shannon Drive, possibly causing an outage.
Simon continued on until the pursuit ended in a hospital parking lot, Albritton said. He was then taken into custody.
Albritton said no one was injured and Simon was booked into the Smith County Jail.
