The death of a 5-year-old Converse boy who was found dead in his bed Sunday morning was the result of ongoing health issues, Deputy Coroner Ron Rivers said Tuesday.
The child, Curtis James (C.J.) Manshack, was put to bed Saturday night by his father but was found unresponsive Sunday morning. Medics responded to the home after a call was made to 911.
An autopsy was performed and C.J.’s death was ruled as failure to thrive, Rivers said.
C.J., a student at Converse High School, suffered from health problems because of near-starvation shortly after his birth. He was under a doctor’s care and had a feeding tube, Rivers said.
