A Dallas, Texas woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Rapides Parish.
State Police said Shawn Richardson, 55, was driving an 18-wheeler south on U.S. Highway 71 at Shirley Road around 3:20 p.m. when she lost control and the truck left the right side of the road. It then overturned. Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said Richardson was wearing a seatbelt. Routine toxicology tests are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
There have been 21 fatal crashes with 23 people killed in the Troop E region this year.
