COUSHATTA, La. -- Red River Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a Coushatta man in connection with a woman's shooting death. Thomas Mangham, 58, was booked into the Red River Parish Jail Monday on charges of second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm. The 20-year-old victim's identity has not been released pending notification of family. The shooting happened Monday afternoon in the 900 block of Second Street in Coushatta. Deputies and Coushatta police found the victim in the front yard of a house suffering what appeared to be a single gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Mangham, the homeowner and alleged gunman, was still there. His home was searched and a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was found. Mangham remains in jail awaiting bond. The investigation is ongoing.
