SHREVEPORT, La. -- A Shreveport woman was killed in an attack by a neighbor's dogs she was caring for, the Caddo Parish coroner said Monday. Joni Hatcher, 59, was found inside a home in the 7800 block of Womack Road just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Hatcher was last seen alive the previous night around 8 p.m. by a neighbor saw her checking her mailbox. A neighbor told investigators Hatcher had been caring for the dogs in the homeowner's absence. Her injuries were consistent with an attack by an animal, possibly a dog or dogs, the coroner said. The death remains under investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.
