Health officials in Louisiana are now reporting there are 34,432 cases of coronavirus reported in the state. There have been 2,425 deaths reported (66 probable deaths). All of Louisiana's 64 parishes have reported cases.
In Central Louisiana, as of May 17, the cases are:
Allen Parish: 100 cases, 10 deaths
Avoyelles Parish: 92 cases, 9 deaths
Beauregard Parish: 52 cases, 4 deaths
Catahoula Parish: 106 cases, 3 deaths
Concordia Parish: 57 cases, 5 deaths
Evangeline Parish: 66 cases, 1 death
Grant Parish: 21 cases, 1 death
LaSalle Parish: 40 cases
Rapides Parish: 474 cases, 14 deaths
Natchitoches Parish: 101 cases, 12 deaths
Sabine Parish: 29 cases
St. Landry: 231 cases, 51 deaths
Vernon Parish: 20 cases, 2 deaths
Winn Parish: 84 cases, 2 deaths
Currently, 1,019 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. Of those, 111 patients require ventilators.
Presumed recovered as of May 10: 22,608
A person is presumed recovered if:
1) it has been more than 14 days since he/she tested positive and he/she is not currently in the hospital or deceased (when hospital status is known), or
2) it has been more than 21 days since he/she tested positive and he/she is not deceased (when hospital status is unknown).
LDH will update recovery data weekly on Mondays.
As of May 17, 56.07% of COVID-19 deaths in Louisiana occurred among African Americans, and 41.21% occurred among white residents. The top three underlying conditions among COVID-19 deaths are hypertension (53.42%), diabetes (33.14%) and cardiac disease (18.78%).

The state reported a 58-year-old with underlying health conditions being treated at Touro Infirmary in Orleans Parish died Saturday, March 14, marking the first death in Louisiana.

COVID-19 cases have been reported by 197 nursing homes and 77 other adult residential facilities in Louisiana. A total of 3,840 COVID-19 cases have been reported among residents of nursing homes, and a total of 501 COVID-19 cases have been reported among residents of other adult residential facilities. A total of 863 COVID-19 deaths have been reported among residents of nursing homes, and 58 COVID-19 deaths have been reported among residents of other adult residential facilities. There are 279 licensed and certified nursing homes and 157 adult residential care providers in Louisiana.
The Department will update the number of adult residential facilities with COVID-19 cases, the number of residents who are confirmed to have COVID-19 and the number of deaths among these residents on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Cases are currently being monitored in multiple parishes across the state.

Governor John Bel Edwards on Sunday, March 22 issued a stay at home order for the state that will begin Monday, March 23.
