Cherokee County man who allegedly assaulted 2 women in custody

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KLTV) - The man suspected of assault and kidnapping in is now in custody. According to a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, Robert Scott Bacot, 39, was being pursued in the Aqua Vista area on Lake Jacksonville Monday morning. Sheriff Brent Dickson said authorities had been alerted of two women Bacot had assaulted, and the hospital where the women were being treated was reportedly able to confirm the allegations. Dickson said the sheriff’s office was notified of Bacot’s presence at Lake Jacksonville Monday morning, and once authorities arrived, the man reportedly jumped into the lake and swam away. Bacot was being searched for around docks and boathouses on the lake, Dickson said. Around 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced that the search had been called off, and said it was unknown whether he had been able to swim across the lake or was still in the area. According to the post, they have two aggravated assaults, one aggravated kidnapping, and a parole warrant out for Bacot’s arrest. Around 6 p.m., the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office announced over Facebook that Bacot had been detained at Lake Jacksonville.
