CENTER, Texas (KLTV) - An athletic trainer with the Center Independent School District has resigned after being arrested for an improper relationship.
While Center ISD did not release details about the allegation, Shelby County Jail records show the employee, Christopher Lemoine, is charged with improper relationship between educator/student.
The Center Police Department said a reported incident involving Lemoine, who worked as an athletic trainer, started the investigation that later led to the charge.
In a statement, Superintendent Jake Henson said the district is cooperating with the District Attorney’s Office and Center Police Department, and has reported the employee to required state agencies, including the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and the State Board for Educator Certification.
Lemoine submitted his written resignation on November 5, effective immediately, the district said.
“As this is an ongoing legal matter, we are unable to provide additional details at this time,” the statement read. “Center ISD takes these matters seriously and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our students and school community.”
Lemoine was booked into the Shelby County Jail, being held on a $250,000 bond.
