The volunteers of the East End Fire Department and a Jasper County deputy had to deal with a burn ban violation on Sunday evening. It happened shortly before 8:00 on County Road 275 when a resident on that road called 911 and reported seeing and smelling smoke. Firefighters say they arrived to find that the smoke was coming from a trash pile near the wood line. After the flames were doused, a deputy issued a citation to the person responsible for the fire. KJAS News has requested the identity of that person from the sheriff’s department, and we’ll update this story when the name is furnished.
