A Buna man escaped injury despite being involved in a fiery crash in Polk County over the weekend. It happened Sunday afternoon on State Highway 146 in the Schwab City Community, about 9 miles southeast of Livingston
Polk County Today is reporting that 68-year-old Dennis Helms, of Livingston, was driving a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he made a u-turn in front of James Herridge, 39, of Buna, who was driving a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck.
The two trucks collided, resulting in Helms’ truck catching on fire. The truck was completely destroyed by the fire, while the front of Herridge’s truck was destroyed by the crash.
Fortunately, both men were unhurt.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that Helms received a citation for Illegal Turn.
