BPSO Deputy Struck in Hit and Run Sunday Morning

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Early morning on Sunday, November 24, 2019, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a vehicle in the ditch at Highway 112 and Three Pine Church Rd.

Deputies responded to that area and discovered the vehicle was unoccupied and posed as a road hazard. They maintained traffic control until the vehicle could be removed.

A truck traveling east on Hwy 112 failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and struck a deputy who was directing traffic. The deputy was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver who failed to stop was identified as Coby Thibodeaux of DeRidder. Thibodeaux has active warrants with BPSO pertaining to this incident as well as from a previous unrelated investigation.

Thibodeaux was located and booked in the Beauregard Parish Jail for felony hit and run and driving without a valid driver’s license. He is currently being held without bond.
