Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

There’s a sad ending to the story of a Golden Triangle teenager who fell into the Neches River on Monday. The body of 14-year-old Conner Curtice was recovered at about 6:00 Tuesday evening. Local officials said Conner was in a boat with another teenager when it began taking on water. As Conner was trying to find the drain plug, he fell off. The incident occurred in an area of the river about 3 miles southeast of Lamar University. Conner would have been a freshman at Port Neches-Groves High School this fall.
