Members of the area’s newest and fastest growing fire department were busy conducting training exercises on Monday evening. Beech Grove firefighters were at the Jasper Airport Industrial Park on Parkway Boulevard where, according to Chief Jamie Gunter, they were training on pump operations and drafting. As firefighters were conducting their drills, a beautiful sunset was occurring in the western sky. This followed overnight and morning showers which brought just over one-third of an inch of much needed rainfall. Beech Grove Firefighter Kelley Rhodes Davis captured some great photos of the firefighters training as the sun went down behind them. Since the beginning, Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter has said that training and education is key to performance.
