The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Department has announced that they have arrested and the same day fired one of their own. The department says Dale Bailey has been charged with third degree rape and malfeasance in office.
According to the department, they received a complaint on Thursday, May 30th from a female jail inmate that she had been sexually assaulted by Bailey when he took her to a medical facility in DeRidder.
The department said investigators obtained evidence which was consistent with the inmate’s accusation, and when questioned by investigators, the department said Bailey confessed to having sex with the woman.
He was arrested and fired the following day. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in state prison.
