A man is accused of impersonating an officer in Beauregard Parish. Sheriff Mark Herford said two reports from Jan. 12 led to the arrest of Michael Shane Miller. First Miller reportedly entered a local credit union wearing a fire department uniform along with a gun and a badge. When approached by security, he claimed he was an arson investigator from Jeff Davis Parish and was required to wear a gun. A second similar report came from a local gun store. After checking with Jeff Davis and state fire agencies, Sheriff Herford said Miller was a volunteer firefighter, but he had no arrest powers and was not responsible for carrying a weapon. He was arrested for falsely representing himself.
