Beaumont Police have started off the New Year with two shooting deaths that have occurred in the city.
Officers there say the first incident occurred on New Year's Eve when police were called to the home of Joshua Yates on Cartwright Street, not from Avenue B, when it was reported that the the 34 year old man who was a candidate for Mayor in 2019 had been shot and killed.
The second incident or murder occurred shortly before midnight on New Year's Day, when someone reported hearing gun shots in the 2300 block of Taylor Street, not far from Magnolia Street on the city's north side. Officers arrived at the location where they found the lifeless body of 30 year old Felton Jones sitting in the drivers side of a car.
Officers with the Beaumont Police Department are investigating both cases in an attempt to uncover additional information or a lead that might help them identify an alleged shooter.
Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas is offering a reward to anyone that comes forth with information that might lead to an arrest in either case.
