A Jasper auto dealer has been indicted and arrested on numerous felony charges. Officers on the local and state level served the warrant late Thursday morning at Big Country Auto Sales in the 200 block of West Gibson Street and arrested 49-year-old Jassen Dougharty.
According to the indictment, which was handed up by the Jasper County Grand Jury on Thursday morning, Dougharty was charged with fourteen counts of False Name/Info Forgery on Vehicle Registration, with the dates of the alleged offenses spanning from July 16th, 2019 to August 7th, 2019.
Dougharty was led out of the business by officers and placed into a Jasper Police Department SUV and transported to the Jasper County Jail. The indictment listed his bond as being pre-set at a total of $70,000.00.
The investigation was headed up by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division and also involved the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, and Jasper Police. Thursday’s arrest followed an August 12th raid at the business in which law enforcement officers served an evidentiary search warrant.
The indictment also listed prior felony convictions in Brazoria County for Theft–Aggregated in 2009 and Theft–Aggregated; Criminal Episode in 2015.
