Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

OBERLIN, La. (KPLC) - The driver accused in a hit-and-run that killed an Oberlin teen has been arrested, authorities said.

The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Ethan Trahan, 22, of Reeves.

On Feb. 14, Kulyn Brooks Manuel, 14, was hit and killed while crossing U.S. 165 at Fifth Avenue on an electric bicycle, according to investigators.

When witnesses arrived at the scene, they said the suspect’s vehicle was not there.

During their investigation, law enforcement reviewed cameras in the area and identified the suspect vehicle as a white dually pickup truck pulling a horse trailer.

After the vehicle’s photo was released to the public, authorities were able to locate the vehicle and its driver, identified as Trahan.

Around 12:20 this afternoon, Trahan was booked into the Allen Parish Jail on a count of hit and run. His bond has not been set.

Detectives ask anyone with photos or videos of Trahan at the Elton Mardi Gras, Oberlin Mardi Gras on Main, or Church Point Mardi Gras to contact Det. Matthew Hebert at 337-639-4353 ext. 319.
