Another shooting suspect arrested, total now six with seventh being sought

Jasper Police announced Thursday afternoon that another suspect has been arrested in regard to an April 23rd shooting incident in the area of Bevil Loop and Valley Drive. This brings the total number of people charged up to six. Meanwhile, police say a seventh suspect has been identified and is now being sought, and even more arrests could be forthcoming. According to Lieutenant Garrett Foster, 21-year-old Terrien Shayveon Collins, of Jasper, turned himself in and he has been charged with Failure to Report a Felony and his bond was set at $5,000.00. That’s the same charge as was leveled against 19-year-old Jacquis Tayshun Bell. Foster noted that since his arrest, two additional charges have been filed on Bell, which are Deadly Conduct and Aggravated Assault. The first four suspects arrested in the case were Newton residents Cameron Hartsfield, Tyler Porter, and Tracy Hickman, all 19, along with Cheston Hartsfield, 18. Foster said it’s believed that during the Bevil Loop-Valley Drive incident, either Collins or the unnamed suspect returned fire at the first four suspects who were arrested. That shooting occurred shortly after a mass shooting that occurred at an after-prom party being held at a house on County Road 263, just north of Jasper. Eleven teenagers, ages 15-19, were shot, but fortunately there were no life-threatening injuries.
