VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB) - Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that a 15-year-old student attending Anacoco High School was arrested on December 3.
The student was reportedly arrested following an investigation into a social media post that threatened violence against another student.
VPSO was alerted to the threat by Vernon Parish School Board and personnel at Anacoco High School on December 3. According to law enforcement, the student was suspended and was arrested later that day.
A 14-year-old student at Anacoco High was also suspended but not arrested following a a second threat of violence. According to VPSO, the student typed a threatening message on an electronic device that was issued by the school.
Both students will reportedly face an expulsion hearing with the Vernon Parish School Board to determine whether they can continue attending Anacoco High School.
Students and faculty were not in any danger, VPSO said.
School Resource Officers are assigned to every school in Vernon Parish and work within them every day.
VPSO cautioned the public that there is a zero tolerance policy for this type of behavior and that all threats will be dealt with swiftly and to the fullest extent of the law.
