Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Scotty Duncan, Chief Deputy at the Jasper County Sheriff's Department announced late Tuesday evening that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the February burglary of the Dollar General Store on Highway 63 west of Jasper. Duncan said information obtained by deputies with the Hardin and Liberty County Sheriff's Departments resulted in the arrest of Ivory McCardle, 21, of Humble. Officers believe McCardle and possibly someone else broke into the store on Monday February 6th and took cigarettes and other items. According to Duncan, McCardle is currently being held at the Liberty County Jail in Liberty and it is expected that he will soon be brought back to Jasper County where he will face the charge of Burglary of a Building. At the time the incident occurred here, there were also reports of similar burglaries at Dollar General Stores in Polk County and other areas. However, officers have not said if McCardle is a suspect in those crimes. Deputies also said they believed two men to be involved, but there is no word of another arrest at this time.
