SHREVEPORT, La. — Police say a rolling shootout that unfolded Monday afternoon in Shreveport appears to have been random and not connected to gangs or drugs.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Mall St. Vincent Avenue and Kings Highway, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
Investigators believe four people in three separate vehicles exchanged gunfire after crossing paths by chance.
“We don’t believe this to be gang-related or drug-related,” police said. “This appears to involve individuals with poor impulse control making dangerous decisions.”
Two 20-year-olds have been arrested in connection with the incident: Chrishun Morris and Rayveous Crawford.
Crawford faces charges of illegal carrying of a weapon and illegal discharge of a firearm. Morris is charged with obstruction of justice.
Police say Crawford is believed to have initiated the gunfire.
“Our initial investigation indicates one individual began firing at another,” police said. “A third person, who was not involved in the initial confrontation, also returned fire.”
Authorities said Morris had recently been released from jail in February on previous drug and gun-related charges. Records show he was fitted with a court-ordered GPS monitoring ankle bracelet prior to his release.
Ivy Woodard with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office said Morris was released on bond and still has open cases stemming from a 2025 arrest, when his bond was set at about $75,000.
Police say all four involved in the shooting have been identified. A warrant has been issued for a third suspect, Rayquilla Crawford, who is the brother of Rayveous Crawford.
