NATCHITOCEHS PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on November 7, that a Natchitoches man was arrested following a traffic stop on Hwy 6-East, near Payne Subdivision. According to NPSO, deputies were patrolling the area at around noon on Thursday when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Deputies said they smelled marijuana while speaking with the driver, identified as Treyvon Beavers, 19, of Natchitoches. The deputies then say they saw a partially burnt blunt inside the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and discovered about 24 grams of suspected marijuana and a pistol without a serial number, among other items; all of which were seized as evidence. Beavers was reportedly arrested without incident, was taken to the LaSalle Corrections Center-Natchitoches Parish and was charged with the following:
- Possession of marijuana
- Illegal possession of a firearm during a narcotics offense
- Traffic charges
Reportedly, Beavers remains in jail awaiting bond.
