SHREVEPORT, La. - The fire danger is growing increasingly worse across the ArkLaTex. Webster Parish joined the list Wednesday. Bossier, DeSoto and Natchitoches parishes declared burn bans Tuesday. Webster Parish Homeland Security Director Brian Williams and Webster Parish Police Jury President Jim Bonsall issued the burn ban Wednesday that prohibits all outdoor burning and open fires. The ban does not apply to prescribed burns by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. The ban remains in force until the Webster Parish Fire Chiefs Association determines that the weather conditions are safe enough to cancel the burn ban. Bossier Parish Police Jury President Philip Rodgers issued a state of emergency burn ban for the parish beginning Wednesday at the request of parish fire chiefs due to extreme heat and a lack of rainfall in the area. In Natchitoches Parish, President John Salter issued a parishwide burn ban effective Tuesday. It will remain in place until further notice. DeSoto Parish Police Jury President Rodriguez Ross also on Tuesday declared a burn ban across the parish. Here's the latest on burn bans in the four state area.
