Last Thursday the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of a house fire in the 2000 block of Savage Forks Road. Crews discovered what they believed to be human remains inside the home. Detectives learned that the two missing family members had been in court earlier in the day in regard to divorce proceedings. Vernon Parish Coroner personnel examined the decedents and tentatively identified the remains as John Moss, age 67, and Christina Moss, age 67, both of Leesville. At this time, it is believed that this was a domestic murder/suicide incident. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
