ALLEN PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A young Kinder woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.
The crash on La. 383 near Haymond Road claimed the life of Zoey Downing, 18, who was a passenger.
Anthony Culbertson, 19, of Crowley, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado south when the truck ran off the road and hit a culvert, causing it to flip, Louisiana State Police Troop D spokesperson Matt Gaspard said. Downing, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially thrown from the truck.
Downing died at the scene, Trooper Gaspard said. Culbertson, who was properly restrained, was brought to a hospital with moderate injuries.
A standard toxicology sample was collected from Culbertson. The reason for the crash remains under investigation.
