A 17-year-old suspect is facing a felony charge for allegedly sending and receiving sexually explicit messages with a girl under the age of 14 in Hardin County.
Israel David Campbell, with a listed address north of Silsbee, was jailed early this morning on a charge of Online Solicitation of Minor, according to the Hardin County Sheriff's Office.
He posted $175, 000 bond and was released Monday afternoon.
If convicted of the 2nd degree felony, he could face 2-20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
KFDM obtained a probable cause affidavit from Hardin County for Campbell's arrest.
It indicates that on February 4, a relative of the young teenage girl reported that the child had been sending and receiving explicit messages with Campbell.
The relative says she seized the 'burner phone' the teen girl was using and turned it over to deputies when she made her initial complaint on February 4.
The affidavit says the online solicitation occurred on or about December 26, 2025.
"Messages were exchanged between the child and Campbell that were sexual in nature and discussed sexual acts against one another," according to the affidavit we obtained.
