SHREVEPORT, La. -- A 17-year-old was critically injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash that also sent three others to the hospital, Shreveport police said. The crash happened just after 11 a.m. in the 7500 block of Fern Avenue. Police said the driver of a Yukon said she saw a Camaro approaching at a high rate of speed. As she tried to get out of the way, the driver said she accidentally shifted the SUV into neutral while trying to put it in park. And as the Camaro driver entered the center lane, the car's passenger side door hit the front bumper of the Yukon, causing it to roll backward off the road. The driver and passenger of the Yukon sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. Police said the Camaro driver was pulled from the car by witnesses and first responders. However, the teenage passenger, who was unresponsive, required extrication. Both were taken to the hospital for emergency care. The teen's injuries are described as life-threatening. The investigation is ongoing.
