KJAS News learned from Jasper Police on Tuesday that a shooting occurred at an apartment complex on Thursday. A report filed by Sergeant Barrence Averhart said that it occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on the parking lot of Prospect Point Apartments at 215 Premier Drive.
The report stated that the victim, 18-year-old Ka’Dence Traylor, drove herself to Jasper Memorial Hospital and was undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound to her upper left arm.
According to the report, Traylor told police that her ex-boyfriend had shot her as she sat in her car.
On Tuesday, Lieutenant Garrett Foster said that police are currently seeking a warrant on the suspect.
This was the second incident involving gunfire at the Prospect Point Apartments in the month of June. Early in the month officers arrested 43-year-old Gino DeShun Shaw after he was reported to be outside firing a gun. Police said Shaw told them that he was shooting because he claimed that his apartment was full of snakes.
