BEAUMONT – 67-year-old Emma Brooks of Bastrop, LA, died after she crashed head-on into the cab of an 18 wheeler that jackknifed and jumped the concrete barrier on I-10 West near downtown Beaumont.

Beaumont Police, Fire and EMS responded to the crash Monday morning in the 800 block of IH-10 West near Grand.

Justice of the Peace Ben Collins tells KFDM/Fox 4 the driver of the 18 wheeler box truck lost control and the front part of the truck, including the cab, went over the concrete barrier into the other lane of traffic.

The woman driving a Cadillac Escalade crashed into the cab of the truck. She died at the scene. Judge Collins says she was from Louisiana. He’s ordered an autopsy.
