Woman Critically Injured in Crash with Logging Equipment

Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth says a Houston woman was critically injured and was flown from the scene in a medical helicopter following a late Thursday morning crash involving a passenger car and logging equipment. Both the Burkeville and Newton Fire Departments responded to the accident, which occurred at about 10:00 on State Highway 63 at County Road 1047, about 5 miles west of Burkeville.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, 64-year-old Geraldine Rowe was driving a 2013 Mercedes Benz sedan westbound and was following a 1996 Kenworth truck that was pulling a log loader.

Clark said the Kenworth slowed to turn onto County Road 1047, and Rowe failed to control speed and slammed into the back of the big-rig.

Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said Rowe had a significant leg injury along with other injuries, and she was flown to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. There’s no word on her condition.

In the aftermath of such serious accidents, the role of a lawyer becomes crucial for victims like Rowe, especially when it comes to Handling an injury claim. Navigating the complexities of insurance policies and potential liabilities can be overwhelming, and a skilled attorney can provide essential guidance to ensure that the injured party receives the compensation they deserve.

By meticulously gathering evidence and advocating for their client’s rights, legal professionals help ensure that victims are not left to bear the financial burden of their injuries alone, allowing them to focus on recovery while seeking justice for their suffering.

Sergeant Clark said the driver of the truck, Louis Barnum, 58, of Warren, and his passenger, Dewey Eddins, 47, of Woodville, were not injured.
