The Texas Department of Public Safety has released details about a late Monday morning wreck just west of jasper that left a man seriously injured, and resulted in the arrest of another man accused of throwing a metal object into traffic and causing the crash. The bizarre accident occurred shortly after 11:oo on highway 63 West at Wickshire Lane, just past the intersection of West Houston Street. Witnesses at the scene said the crash happened when a man, who was walking down Highway 63, threw a piece of metal at a westbound 2OO7 Dodge pickup truck, causing it to leave the roadway, hit a ditch, and then strike an i8-wheeler that was parked on grass next to the road. The crash caused the Dodge to turn over, severely injuring the driver. The man who allegedly threw the object at the pick-up truck was apprehended a few minutes later by Jasper County deputies as he walked along the highway about a half mile west of where the crash occurred. DPS Sergeant Shana Clark has identified the man who threw the metal object as Eric Bohannon, 52, of jasper. Clark said he was initially arrested on a charge of Public Intoxication, with more criminal charges pending as the investigation into the crash continues. Sergeant Clark said the injured driver of the Dodge truck was zo-year-old Nathaniel Cannon, also of jasper. The large eighteen wheeled tractor trailer truck was owned by Andrews Logistics of Southlake, Texas. A man who lived nearby, said the driver of the semi lived in the nearby trailer park and was not in the vehicle when the crash occurred. Eric Bohannon is well known to local law enforcement KJAS News archives, which go back to 2006, show that he has been arrested numerous times for various crimes.
