Floyd Laird, an escaped inmate from the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, was found and taken into custody at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers with the Rosepine Police Department observed a white male traveling on foot along Hwy 171 South of Pickering.

RPD made contact with the male subject and identified him as Floyd Laird. Laird was taken into custody without incident.

Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Deputies transported Laird back to the VPSO jail where he will be charged with one count of Simple Escape.

He was originally being held on a warrant for theft.
