Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the March 17, 2020, arrests of Jordan Chase Cooper, age 20, and Rylan Scott, age 19, both of Leesville following a high speed chase.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. a VPSO Deputy attempted to stop two motorcycles on Highway 468 after radar detected their speed at 75 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone. The occupants of the motorcycles refused to comply and fled from the officer. Troopers from the Louisiana State Police and VPSO Deputies pursued the two motorcycles and the chase took place on LA Hwy 28 both East and West and reached speeds up to 115 miles per hour.
Jordan Chase Cooper lost control of the vehicle when attempting to turn onto LA Hwy 184 while traveling East bound. Cooper was detained and complained of a knee injury. Deputies and Troopers contacted medical personnel who traveled to the scene to examine Cooper and his motorcycle was towed from the scene.
The second motorcycle operator, later identified as Rylan Scott, continued to flee and the pursuit was called off due to safety concerns for the general public due to the reckless behavior of the driver.
Deputies and Troopers traveled to a residence located on Stanley Road where they observed a vehicle leaving the residence with Scott driving. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and Scott was taken into custody.
Jordan Chase Cooper was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated flight from an officer and one count of Reckless operation of a vehicle. Bond was set at $4,061.00. Cooper posted bond and was released.
Rylan Scott was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated flight from an officer and one count of Reckless operation of a vehicle. Bond was set at $4,061.00. Scott posted bond and was released.
Scott and Cooper also received numerous traffic citations and must appear before a 30th JDC Judge in relation to the violations.
