The Vernon Parish School Board met this morning at 10:00. Today the recognized students of the year in Anacoco, Evans, Hornbeck, Pitkin and Leesville Junior High, Vernon Middle and Leesville High School. The remaining schools in the district will be recognized during Tuesday’s meeting.

Ms. Atkins presented the head start report – several procedures were added to Tuesday’s agenda. 242 students are enrolled in the program, 29 are on an income eligible waiting list, 26 are on an over income waiting list and there are 5 vacancies. 186 health reports and 163 dental reports are completed, 20 need dental follow ups. They report 1362 volunteer hours, 0 deficiencies 20 formal evaluations and 40 informal. 24 students are on IEP with 13 in progress and 16170 breakfasts and lunches have been served.
Mr. Kay provided the COVID update – the district has 400 COVID-19 vaccination doses that have been made available to all employees in the district. Slots have been reserved for just over 380 persons who indicated they wanted to be included in the list. Med Express is assisting in the movement of the vaccines and keeping them for disbursement. Employees who have not signed up to acquire of the these vaccines still have the option to set up appointments at one of the local vaccine providers in the community.
With the move to Phase 3, LHSAA has ruled that all sanctioned inside games may be held at 50% capacity or 250 people.
The Salary committee added the 2021-2022 school calendar and a promotional contract to Tuesday’s agenda.
