Two Newton Houses Destroyed by Fire Deemed Suspicious

Newton Fire Department Captain Melanie Smith says two houses were destroyed in a Monday night fire, which has been deemed suspicious. Smith says firefighters from both Newton and Trout Creek responded shortly after 10:00 when the blaze was reported in the 400 block of Burnaman Street on the northeast side of town.

Smith said the original fire spread to a next-door house owned by Jennifer Turley Roy, and both residences were a total loss.

According to Smith, no one was home at either house, so there were no injuries.
