Two people are dead and two others undergoing hospital treatment following an accident involving 7 vehicles on Wednesday afternoon east of Beaumont.
Police, fire and other emergency crews were dispatched to the location near Rose City, on Interstate 10 at 1:00 pm, when it was reported that the crash had occurred.
State Troopers investigating the incident say the crash occurred when a tire on a Ford blew out on a Ford SUV causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle, which was then struck by a 2015 Dodge pickup truck.
Other vehicles involved in the crash also included a 2019 Ford pickup, a 2020 Peterbilt eighteen wheeled tractor trailer truck, a 2006 Toyota car, a 2021 Hyundai and a 2018 Dodge pickup truck.
Officer Shana Neal with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the driver and a passenger in the Hyundai, who were pronounced dead at the scene. However, the names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Three other people were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where they were at last word still undergoing treatment. A Kirbyville woman, 29-year-old Devlin McLaurin of Kirbyville, who was also in the wreck was not injured.
Interstate 10 between Beaumont and Vidor was blocked for some time as workers cleared the wreckage from the roadway.
