Two men with Little Rock, Arkansas addresses are jailed in Nacogdoches County after the Texas Department of Public Safety says they fled from a traffic stop and dragged a state trooper for a short distance. KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that the incident occurred shortly after 11:00 Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 259 north of Nacogdoches.
According to DPS, the trooper stopped a 2014 Cadillac, driven by Mohamed Diopout, 20, and the passenger was Salem Abdi, 19. Inside the car, DPS said the trooper discovered a large amount of the drug Promethazine. However, the report said that when the trooper tried to arrest the driver, he fled in the vehicle, briefly dragging the trooper and resulting in only minor injuries.
The report said that the pair turned onto Farm to Market Road 1087 where they wrecked the car and then tried to flee on foot, but they were soon captured and arrested.
According to DPS, Mohamed Diopout was charged with: Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention, Assault on a Public Servant, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Failure to Comply with Requirements after Striking an Unattended Vehicle. Salem Abdi was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug.
