Emergency crews were on the scene of a two-vehicle accident in the Curtis Community shortly before 8:00 on Wednesday evening.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said that a 2006 Dodge SUV was westbound and the driver slowed to make a turn onto County Road 114. However, Clark said the driver of a 2006 Kia sedan, which was also westbound, changed from the outside lane to the inside lane when unsafe and slammed into the back of the SUV.
Clark said the driver of the SUV, Emma Carter, 63, and a passenger, Betty Shaw, 74, both of Jasper, were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment. There’s no word on the severity of their injuries.
Clark said the driver of the Kia, Addison Causey, 20, of Newton, was not injured, and was issued a citation for changing lanes when unsafe.
