Multiple tornadoes struck northern Orange County and at least one hit in southern Newton County late Wednesday morning. The twisters were spawned in thunderstorms that popped up just ahead of a front that brought in cool air.
In Orange County, numerous photos and videos shot by drivers showed a large tornado crossing Interstate 10 at State Highway 62. KOGT News in Orange is reporting that the storm damaged the Flying-J Truck Stop at that intersection, as well as the roof of a Texas Department of Transportation office on Highway 62.
KJAS News received a report of a tornado – possibly the same one – damaging trees in the Hartburg and Deweyville areas of far south Newton County.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries associated with Wednesday’s wild weather.
