Three People Injured in Wednesday Afternoon Auto Crash

Three people were injured in a two vehicle auto accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the north end of Jasper County.

Police, fire and other emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 96 and Recreational Road 255 shortly before 5:00 when it was reported that the crash had occurred and arrived to find one of the vehicles, a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck laying on it’s side in the southbound lane of Highway 96.

First responders from the Lake Rayburn Fire Department were first to arrive at the scene and immediately began providing medical aid to those injured until two units from Allegiance EMS were able to make it to the location.

The southbound lane of Highway 96 was blocked for some time as crews removed the wreckage from the roadway.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred when the driver of the pickup truck, which was traveling east on RR-255 pulled out onto Highway 96 in the path of the southbound GMC.

The driver of the GMC, 52-year-old Barbara Cole of San Augustine was transported to CHI Memorial Hospital in Lufkin.

The driver of the pick up truck, 75-year-old Don Snider and his passenger, 70-year-old Charlene Snider, both of Jasper, were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
