The Burr Ferry Bridge was for almost 9 hours following a wreck that occurred about 11:00 p.m. last night. The driver of a pickup truck crossed the center line on Highway 63 at the base of the Burr Ferry Bridge, sideswiping an 18-wheeler chip truck.
According to Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth, the chip truck left the highway and hit a large tree head-on. The impact toppled the tree across the truck trailer, and onto the highway.
The third vehicle involved in the crash was driven by a woman who struck the part of the tree that was across the road.
Chief Duckworth said there were no serious injuries.
TNT Wrecker Service from Beaumont worked until about 8:00 this morning removing the 18 wheeler from the scene. Traffic was completely blocked or limited to one lane during this time.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis says further details about the accident will not be available until the investigating trooper files his report.
