Suspect in Jasper Co RV theft sentenced to prison after breaking probation

Daily News & More in Hemphill is reporting that a Bronson woman, who was accused of stealing a
travel trailer from Troy Shanks in Jasper County in July of this year, has been sentenced to serve
out a term in state prison after breaking probation in Sabine County.

Althea Aileen Miguez, 33, appeared before State District Judge Craig Mixon this week in the Sabine
County Courthouse and was sentenced to seven years behind bars.

Prosecutors say in June of 2020, Miguez was sentenced to probation and community service for a
2019 conviction on a charge of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

However, since that time Miguez was arrested in Jasper County in July of 2022 on four counts of
Theft of Property, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Miguez, along with 36-year-old Jimmy Earl Lewis, allegedly stole more than $200,000.00 worth of
items in crimes that occurred in Jasper County and other surrounding counties hi July. Sheriff
Mitchel Newman at the time said that a tip led him and his deputies to the pair and the recovery of
many of the stolen items.

Miguez’ problems in Jasper County actually started in 2020 when she was arrested on charges of
Aggravated Robbery, Burglary of a Habitation, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
