STATE OF EMERGENCY

Whereas, the Parish of Sabine is now confronted with very high heat indexes and little moisture for an
extended length of time, resulting in dangerously dry tree and grass foliage .Fire Departments in Sabine
are experiencing excessive forest and grass fires due to the dry circumstances.

Whereas, a definite threat to property and lives, for the Citizens of Sabine Parish exists due to the
impending impact of an extreme drought condition.

A fire hazard does exist.

Therefore, a Burn Ban has been issued for the entire parish of Sabine, prohibiting all outside burning
(Garbage, grass, leaves, brush, etc.). Burn permits can only be issued by one of the three Sabine PARISH
FIRE CHIEFS. .

Whereas, the potential to exhaust local resources due to excessive demand of public facilities, with
aspiration of the safety and security of the citizens of Sabine;

Therefore, in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statue 29:727, I, Rickey L. Sepulvado, President of the
Sabine Parish Police Jury, by authority vested in me by the Parish Charter and the Louisiana Disaster Act
of 1993, do hereby proclaim;

A State of Emergency exists within the Parish of Sabine and an outside Burn Ban declared. All
Emergency Preparedness Plans and the Parish All Hazard Emergency Operations Plan be activated, if
necessary.

Penalties: Ordinance No. 2 of 2015, filed with the Sabine Parish Clerk of Court, Instrument 453321, Book
755, page 645, No. 6.2 upon conviction of this violation the offender shall be fined not less than One
Hundred Dollars ($100.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), plus Court costs.

Issued on this 4th Day of October, 2022, at Twelve Hundred Hours (12:00), remaining in effect until the
impending threat has subsided, or 30 days from the date of this declaration.
