Severe weather possible Wednesday PM through Thursday AM

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK and the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, LA are issuing statements warning that there is a possibility of severe weather in this area from Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

Maps issued by the Storm Prediction Center show that this area is on the outer edge of the region with the highest risk of a severe weather outbreak, with the majority of the risk being in areas to our northwest, north, northeast, and east.

The following was issued by the National Weather Service in Lake Charles on Mon, Feb 14th, 2022:

SYNOPSIS:

– A strong disturbance and associated cold front will impact the region late Wednesday through Thursday.

– There is still modest uncertainty in the exact timing and placement of hazardous impacts at this time range.

IMPACTS:

– Scattered storms will be possible ahead of the cold front, with a line of storms along the cold front.

– Strong to severe storms of all hazards (damaging wind gusts / large hail / tornadoes) appear possible.

– Slightly better confidence in severe potential in areas more inland from the immediate Gulf coastline.

WHEN/WHERE:

– Portions of interior east Texas by late Wednesday, spreading into southwest / central / south central Louisiana early to mid-Thursday.
